At wellingtonbaseball.co.nz we want to be open about how our content is made. We use artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool in our editorial process, but every article is worked through, fact-checked and edited by a person before it is published. This page explains how that works.
How we use AI
We use the AI tool Claude, developed by Anthropic, to speed up parts of our work. Typical uses include gathering and organising research, suggesting a structure for an article and producing a first draft. This helps us cover topics thoroughly, from the infield fly rule to how the MLB wild card works.
AI is always an aid and never the final word. No article is published in the state it leaves the AI tool.
Our human editing process
Once a draft exists, an editor takes over. This is where the most important part of the work happens. During editing we:
- Fact-check every detail against reliable primary sources, such as MLB, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), Baseball New Zealand, official broadcasters and New Zealand legislation.
- Correct or remove anything that is wrong, out of date or misleading.
- Rework the language so the text is clear, accurate and easy to read, including for people who are new to baseball.
- Add context an AI tool cannot supply on its own, such as what a rule or schedule means for players and fans in New Zealand.
- Check that the content is original and not copied from other websites.
The goal is that you always get content that is accurate, useful and written for people rather than for search engines.
Why we are open about it
We believe in transparency. Explaining how our articles are produced is a matter of trust: you should be able to rely on what you read here and know how it was put together.
We also follow Google’s guidance on helpful, reliable content. That guidance focuses on whether content is accurate and created to help people, not on whether AI was involved in producing it. That is the standard we work to.
Fact-checking and responsibility
Everything published on wellingtonbaseball.co.nz is covered by editorial responsibility. An editor reviews the material, and we update pages when the facts change, for example when rules are revised, competition formats shift or broadcast arrangements move.
Live information such as scores, standings and odds changes constantly. For that reason we explain how to read it and where to find current figures, and we do not ask an AI tool to supply numbers that would be out of date within hours.
You can find out more about who is behind the site on our About us page.
Our content is information, not betting advice
Some of our articles describe how betting on baseball works and what New Zealand law allows. These articles are informative and descriptive. They are not an encouragement to bet, and they are not betting advice or predictions, whether written with or without the help of AI. Betting in New Zealand is restricted to people aged 18 and over.
